Network Rail

In 2002, HW Martin (Fencing Contractors) Ltd won a five year contract let by Network Rail to renew fences and clear and maintain vegetation for a distance of 6 metres from the nearest rail.

In letting this contract, Network Rail sought to exploit the synergy between the two tasks, as renewal of fencing often requires clearance of vegetation first.

Geographically, the work was spread across the whole of the North West, covering parts of Derbyshire, West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside, Cumbria and North Wales.

This work is ongoing.
