Recycling Technology
HW Martin has a rolling programme of research into new outlets for recyclable materials.
Our research and development enables us to widen the range of recyclable materials handled at Household Waste Recycling Centres, at our MRFs and other facilities. We are adding to this with our current research into:
- Processing of non-recycled residues to make Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF), which can be used in place of coal and other fossil-fuels in industry and power generation
- Flaking and pelleting of plastics, including mixed plastics, so that it leaves our facilities ready for use in the plastics manufacturing industry
- Processing of glass to create material ready for re-manufacture
Our research covers new applications of existing technology as well as developing technology in its infancy prior to its scaling up for practical use.
