Job Title:  Apprentice Vehicle Body Builder/Fitter

Location:  King Highway Products, Market Harborough (LE16)

Hours:  Monday – Thursday, 07:00 – 16:00, 34 hours per week

Rate of Pay:  Up to £5.50 per hour + Outstanding Training

The Opportunity:

Due to continuing business expansion, King Highway Products are looking for two apprentices to join our fantastic team. The apprentices will be specialising in commercial vehicle body building/fitting (including mechanical and electrical fittings), converting commercial vehicle manufacturers’ chassis cabs to bespoke highway industry vehicles with specialist lorry bodies, lights, surveillance and safety equipment to the highest standards. The successful candidates will also gain experience within our service department which will include anything from diagnostics to repairing vehicles that have been involved in an RTC.

This is a brilliant opportunity for two hard working and committed individuals with a minimum of three GCSEs at grades C/4 or above, to begin an exciting and worthwhile career, working alongside an established and committed workforce.

The Role:

Full training provided will be provided to carry out a variety of tasks including:

  • Install of mechanical brackets, cut chassis members to required length, drill as required for bracket attachment
  • Cut, bend, fit and assemble components, using hand tools and portable power tools
  • Mount traffic management cushions and light boards to chassis brackets, connect mechanically and electrically
  • Install electrical wiring for dome lights, taillights, brake lights and other equipment according to specified procedures
  • Spray or brush paint primer or protective coating on wood and metal surfaces
  • Following safe systems of work during the process of electrical and mechanical fitting
  • General labouring, vehicle maintenance and workshop duties
