Location: Predominantly workshop based in Sevenoaks, Kent, will also be required to attend customer sites.

King Highway Products is thrilled to announce that due to our continued growth, we are seeking a talented and dedicated Service Engineer to join our dynamic team. As we expand, this role presents an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the success of our company while growing within a thriving industry.

The Service Engineer will be predominantly workshop-based, focusing on the repair and maintenance of cushions and light arrows fitted to Impact Protection Vehicles (IPVs). You will take instructions from the Service team based in Leicestershire, working largely independently while ensuring that stock is managed, paperwork is complete, and service standards are upheld. Occasionally, you will travel to customer sites for repairs and inspections.

Equipment you will be working with:

  • Impact Protection Vehicles (IPVs) – Daily
  • Mobile Light Towers – Occasionally
  • Mobile Variable Message Signs (VMS) – Occasionally
  • Mini Light Arrows – Occasionally
  • Trailers – Seldom

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Perform fault-finding, servicing, repairs, and routine maintenance on a variety of vehicle-mounted Traffic Management equipment.
  • Complete preventative maintenance tasks and implement modifications to enhance equipment performance and longevity.
  • Maintain up-to-date administrative records, including completing job/service sheets promptly and accurately.
  • Ensure that the workshop environment is organized, clean, and compliant with company standards.
  • Interact with customers in a professional, polite, and courteous manner at all levels of engagement.
  • Stay informed about the latest industry trends, innovations, and technologies to ensure service excellence.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to identify opportunities for additional products and services within the designated service area.
  • Work closely with internal teams to estimate repair costs, provide accurate damage assessments, and advise customers on necessary repairs and any associated charges.
  • Adhere to company Health & Safety policies and guidelines at all times.

Experience and Qualifications required:

  • Electrical Systems: Experience in 12/24v electrical systems and basic hydraulic repairs.
  • Mechanical Repairs: Hands-on experience in mechanical repairs.
  • Circuit Diagrams and Assembly Drawings: Competence in navigating and understanding circuit diagrams and assembly drawings.
  • Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGV): Experience in the repair and maintenance of Heavy Goods Vehicles (desired but not essential).
  • Traffic Management Equipment: Experience with the repair and maintenance of traffic management equipment (desired but not essential).
  • Similar Role: Experience in a similar technical or maintenance role.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant technical certifications or training in electrical, mechanical, or hydraulic systems desirable.
  • Forklift – essential

  • Customer Service: A good understanding of the importance of excellent customer service.
  • Enthusiasm and Passion: Displays a strong desire to learn and develop professionally.
  • Positive Attitude: A “can-do” attitude to overcome challenges and provide solutions.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft Office
