Embedding Social Value at Mill Place

Embedding Social Value at Mill Place

05/12/2019

With the success of Mental Health Awareness Day firmly in the focus of our people, H W Martin’s Mill Place traffic management team have continued to embed social value within their local communities in partnership with the Trussell Trust and local charity, Mind.

As part of their monthly Wellbeing Workshops, the Mill Place team have instilled community spirit throughout the workforce, undertaking activities such as charity donations, raffles, and food bank collections.

In October, the team raised money from an office raffle, donating over £100 to local mental health charity, Mind (Maidstone). November has brought more social value to local communities through a food bank collection for the Trussell Trust in collaboration with our service partner, Interserve.

H W Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd Training Centre Coordinator, Abi Dove, said:

“During our Wellbeing Workshops at Mill Place, the team discussed social value, charity support, and mental health awareness and how we can push this a little further and make it a continuous effort. Our logic is what better way is there to get people to talk about personal issues, whether it is mental health, illnesses, personal struggles than raising awareness of local charities that can help. It is a good way to get people talking about sensitive issues and hopefully show people that you are never alone with your problems.”

The team have further events planned for December including a charity raffle with prizes such as shopping vouchers, a tablet computer, hampers of wine, toiletry gift boxes and Christmas food items. All prizes have been donated by H W Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd and our integrated supply chain partners.

All proceeds from the charity raffle will be donated to National Suicide Prevention Alliance and Dementia UK.
