Our Apprentices Are On The Ball

01/05/2015

There’s nothing like being bad at one thing to make you appreciate how good you are at something else!

That’s the conclusion that was quickly drawn by two apprentices from H W Martin (Plant) Ltd when they tried their hand at golf at the recent Commercial Vehicle Show.

The NEC’s Commercial Vehicle Show 2015 in April was an opportunity for first-year and third-year engineering apprentices from the company to experience the latest in technology and equipment in the world of commercial vehicles. This is part of the extensive on-the-job and off-the-job training that apprentices at H W Martin (Plant) Ltd receive. High quality training and mentoring is the reason why our technical expertise remains a market-leader.

Unfortunately for the apprentices this did not translate into good golf club skills, as they tried their hand on the Ford stand. Based on these pictures they won’t be invited by the club captain to tee off at their local course in the near future. As Mark Faulconbridge, Operations Director, put it after witnessing the apprentices’ efforts: “Having called at the Ford stand for a bit of competition it was pretty obvious their forte is in commercial vehicle repairs!”
