The Group continues its investment in the North East with the takeover of key regional waste activities.
The collections business and Washington MRF operations of Durham-based Premier Waste Management and its main operating centres have been acquired from Premier Waste Management Ltd and will commence operations as part of H W Martin Waste Ltd on 1st April 2011, trading as Premier Waste Recycling Ltd. It will build on Premier’s excellent foothold in the region and expand H W Martin’s activities, which already include the provision of recycling services to councils in Gateshead and South Tyneside.
H W Martin Waste Ltd, a part of the Martin Group of companies, is an organisation with increasing significance in the waste and recycling sector. The company provides kerbside residential recycling collections, materials sorting and household waste recycling centre management for local authorities across the country, from Tyneside in the north to Milton Keynes in the south. The company also provides residual waste landfill diversion through its RDF production plant.
Premier Waste Recycling Ltd will add to this portfolio with its extensive commercial and industrial customer base, its recyclate sorting facility in Washington and several depots across the region.
H W Martin welcomes the opportunity to couple Premier’s experienced and committed workforce with that of its own. In a statement issued by the Martin Group it was emphasised how the new organisation will be good for commercial and local authority customers in the North East:
