Safe by Choice is a bespoke behavioural safety campaign developed by HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd in partnership with the safety experts at JMJ. The motivation for this operation was simple: our people operate in a high-risk environment and, therefore, their safety, as well as the safety of our partners and customers, must be a core value.
We launched a breakthrough initiative that is overhauling our safety culture. The objective is to achieve a commitment culture where health and safety is part of the very fabric of how we do business; where it is intrinsically linked to performance, in the sense that everyone is motivated to perform safely because of the shared belief that it is the right thing to do. Crucially everyone recognises that safety is a critical part of their job regardless of who they are.
Safe by Choice is a journey, one that everyone at HW Martin (Traffic Management) is taking together. The process considers each of the six stages of behavioural change, from receptiveness toward, and understand that, there are different ways of doing things, through to being motivated and in a position to change workplace behaviour, and ultimately to making the change and embedding this into the business culture.
