HW Martin Fencing and Forestry Ltd recently hosted a Safety Stand Down Day for its dedicated Network Rail operatives.

The event, which featured presentations from the company’s Health and Safety Manager, as well as Senior Management members, was further enriched by the valuable contributions of Elite Force Safety; a safety training organisation with a difference. Their sessions focused on Mental Health and Manual Handling, incorporating practical elements tailored to the materials and equipment that are integral to the workforce.

Steve Riley, HSEQ Manager at HW Martin Fencing and Forestry Ltd, was pleased with how the event was received, he said:

The event was a resounding success, playing a pivotal role in reinforcing our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of safety within our workplace. Not only did it underscore our alignment with Network Rail’s safety values, but it also showcased our ongoing dedication to collaborating with clients on all health and safety matters.

Key Highlights Contributing to the Success of the Safety Stand Down Day were:

  1. Relevance of Content: The information disseminated during the event directly addressed the unique safety challenges inherent in our fencing and forestry operations, making it highly pertinent to the work environment.
  2. Engaging Presentations: The speakers engaged the audience by incorporating real-life examples that resonated, practical scenarios, and interactive elements into their presentations. This approach enhanced accessibility and left a lasting impression on attendees.
  3. Clear Communication of Safety Protocols: The clarity with which safety protocols and procedures were conveyed was exemplary. Attendees departed with a comprehensive understanding of the requisite steps to ensure both their own safety and that of their colleagues.
  4. Positive Atmosphere: The overall atmosphere of the event fostered a positive learning environment. Employees felt at ease asking questions, sharing experiences, and actively participating in discussions, contributing to the overall success of the Safety Stand Down Day.

Steve, continues:

This event marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to prioritizing safety and underscores our proactive approach to addressing the evolving health and safety needs of our workforce. We look forward to building on this success and continuing to cultivate a workplace where safety is paramount.
