Last Friday Traffic Management Operative Samantha Peters was joined by her family and colleagues at the De Vere Grand Connaught in London for the Design and Build UK Women in Construction Awards evening.
Samantha was shortlisted for an On the Tools Award alongside four other women from the industry.
Sadly, Samantha was not successful overall, but this did not in any way diminish her overall achievement.

“It was a pleasure to celebrate with Samantha an
d her family. I do believe she was the only female traffic management operative in the room, and as such, her shortlisting was even more significant. We made a really important step in promoting equity in traffic management.
“I’m immensely proud of Sammy, and all the women at HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd who work out on the Strategic Road Network every night. They are unsung heroes of the construction industry. Without them, other construction professionals wouldn’t have a safe space in which to carry out essential work on our highways.”
