Having realised what we considered to be a gap in Foreman training, our Capability Academy developed a Visual Assessment Criteria.
Historically the traffic management industry has accepted that that the criteria to become a foreman will be a 2 day training course followed by a knowledge test which is based around the contents of the course. HW Martin accept that a potential new Foreman needs to have his knowledge tested and indeed we do this within our own Lantra Training centre, however we feel that industry is demanding more from a TM foreman, Leadership qualities, Organisational skills and good communications are all attributes that cannot be tested under the current foreman route.
Having realised what we considered to be a gap in Foreman training, our Capability Academy developed a Visual Assessment Criteria, from this criteria we created a Foreman’s log book and we are now well into a programme of on-site Foreman assessments for all H W Martin foreman.
The assessments are undertaken by a Lantra qualified 12A assessors and once all the criteria within the logbook the foremen are issued with an HW Martin foreman plus card.
These cards record all training that has been undertaken by the foreman such as SSSTS, IOSH, Conflict training and Foreman’s Plus.
