We believe that protecting the health, safety and welfare of employees, supply chain and the public are the basic fundamentals of good business sense.
We have developed a H&S management system that is compliant with OHSAS 18001:2007 to ensure full compliance with legislation and continuous improvement in performance. Our H&S policy confirms this commitment and describes the organisation and arrangements that we have in place to protect everyone who make be affected by our activities.
Zero Harm Culture
Safety of the public, road-users and road-workers is our priority. Our behavioural safety culture is endorsed at all levels from directors to frontline workforce, ensuring that everyone understands their obligations and recognises the need to promote safety awareness and influence behaviours.
Whilst fulfilling our corporate responsibility to ensure a safe working environment and safe systems of work, we require all personnel to take responsibility for their own safety and for the safety of others around them. Our workforce is empowered by our director to halt to work in any unsafe situation.
Richard Coy – Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor
I have over 22 years’ experience in the traffic management industry which followed my 10-year career in the British Army.
I completed the NEBOSH General Certificate course prior to leaving the Army and am now working towards the NEBOSH National Diploma.
I have had many roles during my time in the TM industry from operative with HW Martin (Traffic Management) to an Instructor and Assessor and being able to deliver all NHSS 12A, B, C and D qualifications.
I have also been an active member of the RoWSaF Trials Team and am proud to have been the driving force behind the Convoy Control Vehicle; an idea I took from concept right through to the issue of the Interim Advice Note. By using this method, traffic management activities can be undertaken in a sterile area provided by an authorised rolling block, therefore reducing the need for operative to work in a live lane.
I have recently had the opportunity to assist in the delivery of traffic management schemes and provide training in other countries including Australia, the Middle East and China. I found this both challenging and rewarding.
On my return from Australia I joined HW Martin to be the dedicated Safety Advisor for traffic management. In this position, I will be actively involved with all aspects of design and operations to ensure comprehensive safety risk mitigation strategies are in place and monitored for effectiveness in the future.
I’m looking forward to helping make HW Martin (Traffic Management) a safe and rewarding environment in which to work and aligning our goals with that of our clients.
