HW Martin (Traffic Management) is taking part in National Inclusion Week 2021

27/09/2021

National Inclusion Week, running from September 27th – October 3rd 2021 was created by Inclusive Employers who organise the campaign each year. The week aims to raise awareness of inclusion in the workplace. Now in it’s ninth year, the 2021 theme for National Inclusion Week is: United for Inclusion. It is about bringing people and organisations together to share learning and best practice, encouraging collaboration to reach the shared goal of making inclusion an every day reality.

Last year, over 2000 organisations took part in National Inclusion Week and the combined activities connected over 16-million people using the hashtag, #NationalInclusingWeek2020. This year, the actions and activities will spread the message that participating organisations are #UnitedForInclusion.

Amongst activities HW Martin (Traffic Management) has planned or National Inclusion Week are the launch of Women at Martin’s, the company’s first Staff Affinity Network to create opportunities to improve female representation across the business, the development of a Positive Action Plan to make changes to the way the business advertises, recruits and communicates in order to be more inclusive; and using its brand new staff reward and wellbeing portal to share resources that aim to kickstart the conversation on inclusion.

James Hunt, sustainability manager, at HW Martin (Traffic Management), said:

“Raising awareness is a good place to begin this National Inclusion Week to ensure we have firm foundations upon which to have conversations around inclusion, this week and beyond. There is always room for improvement and opportunities to bring our people closer together in order to celebrate and share inclusion best practices. We are looking to embed an environment that promotes equitability, equality and accessibility for all. It’s about creating a level playing field.”

Rupert Moyne, Managing Director – Corporate Services, at Inclusive Employers, said:

“I’m delighted that HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd is joining employers around the world by taking part in National Inclusion Week 2021.

The last year has really brought the need for inclusion into sharp focus. Many of us have spent the past twelve months working remotely and I therefore hope that United For Inclusion, the 2021 theme of National Inclusion Week, brings us closer to our colleagues and other organisations as we together celebrate, share and inspire inclusion practices.

One area of focus for us during National Inclusion Week 2021 will be to inspire unity and action for anti-racism. We will be launching an anti-racist toolkit during this year’s Inclusion Week.

HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd’s involvement in National Inclusion Week shows that they take building an inclusive workplace seriously and I welcome their commitment to do so.”
