HW Martin (Traffic Management) secured the Collaborative Partnership Award at the 2025 Highways UK Excellence Awards. The accolade was presented in recognition of the successful delivery of the A303 Newtown Resurfacing Scheme, a project undertaken in partnership with National Highways, with support from Amey, FM Conway and Wilson and Scott (Highways).

The scheme focused on renewing a key section of the A303, part of the strategic road network, to enhance safety, improve road quality and achieve substantial cost and carbon savings. Through close collaboration, the project team demonstrated the power of partnership working – combining innovation, adaptability and shared expertise to deliver outstanding results.

The judges commended the project as a leading example of how early engagement and open collaboration between client and supply chain can produce tangible benefits for both road users and the environment.

Reflecting on the achievement, Paul Radfield, Director of Surfacing at FM Conway, said:

“Congratulations to all the supply chain partners involved in the extensive planning and complex delivery of this scheme. The award is a testament to the hard work done by all — well done.”

In a post on LinkedIn, Jamie Cunningham, Regional South West Operations Manager at HW Martin (Traffic Management) said:

Huge congratulations to everyone involved. HW Martin (Traffic Management) working alongside FM Conway and National Highways to bring home the collaborative partnership award. Hats off to Tom Butler [Contracts Manager] for his hard work and determination on this scheme.”

This achievement highlights HW Martin (Traffic Management)’s ongoing commitment to building strong partnerships, promoting best practice, and contributing to the continued improvement of the UK’s road network.
