Location: Washington, Sunderland, NE38 8QU
Salary: £12.76 per hour
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7.30am – 4.00pm with weekend working required as overtime at peak times
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Premier Waste Recycling (PWR) has an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our terrific team as a Waste Operativeat our site based in Washington, Sunderland. We are an established and successful waste collection & recycling business, recognised as the leading independent waste management company in the North East and  Yorkshire region.

We now have an excellent opportunity for a high calibre person to join the business. You will help to ensure that we are able to deliver the highest standards of service

The Role

As a Waste Operative, you will play an important role in the day to day running of our busy recycling facility. This is a varied, hands on position where no two days are the same. Duties will include working on the weighbridge, operating machinery, carrying out yard duties, and assisting at the picking station to ensure waste is processed safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operating the site weighbridge and accurately recording vehicle weights.
  • Working on the picking station to sort recyclable materials.
  • Carrying out general yard duties to maintain a safe and tidy site.
  • Operating plant and machinery (full training provided where required).
  • Assisting with loading and unloading vehicles where necessary.
  • Following all health and safety procedures and company policies.
  • Supporting colleagues across the site to ensure efficient operations.

About you

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Comfortable working outdoors and in a busy operational environment.
  • Previous experience in waste, recycling, plant operation, or a similar environment is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
