The Opportunity:

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Yard Operative / Driver to complement our existing team.

The successful candidate will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties within our Fleet Maintenance team including Yard duties/maintenance and Collection/deliveries.

The post holder will be required to have a HGV Licence (C+E) and be physically capable of fulfilling the physical manual handling elements of the role, it would also be advantageous to have experience driving Plant. (necessary training provided). The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for themselves and others.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Work as a motivated and collaborative member of the team.
  • Ensure availability and accessibility of materials and plant for site-based operatives.
  • Plant movement between sites.
  • Operate plant and machinery safely, in full compliance with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance, H.W. Martin Safety at Work policies, and site-specific risk assessments, including reporting unsafe operations.
  • Yard shunting
  • Steam cleaning
  • Workshop housekeeping
  • Loading/unloading vehicles for Mot.
  • Mot presentation
  • Carry out in house collections and deliveries

 

Experience, Qualifications and Skills required:

  • HGV Licence (C&E)
  • Used to working in an outdoor environment and capable of working in a physically demanding job.
  • Understanding of risk assessment and implementing safe working practices.
  • Good communication skills – able to communicate both written and verbally in English Language
  • Self-motivation
  • Positive ‘can do’ attitude
  • Positive attitude towards Health and Safety.
  • Strong ‘Team-working’ ethic.
