Fuel From Waste A Reality As New Facility Goes Live

03/08/2009

Despite narrow timescales H W Martin’s £2 million investment in a state-of-the-art Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) facility was successfully switched-on last week.

Trials showed the plant is already producing fuel of the correct specification for industrial use as an alternative to fossil fuels such as coal and oil. Today (3rd August 2009) is the scheduled date for full implementation of the RDF facility after equipment was first delivered and began to be installed on site just 8 weeks ago.

Mark Faulconbridge, Operations Director at H W Martin Waste Ltd., recognised that the success of the RDF facility was the result of many organisations working well together: “This was achieved in very tight timescales and I have passed on our thanks to everyone for a huge effort.”

The facility in Northampton will process 50,000 tonnes per year of residual waste from councils, businesses and its own waste management operations.
