The fourth Charity Swimathon, organised by Mansfield Rotary and The Armchair Club took place on Saturday 1st October 22 and organisers are hopeful it will have topped last year’s fundraising total!

Among the swimmers, who completed a total of 2,511 lengths, were many individuals and teams from local businesses, charities and groups as well as international names from the sport including Rebecca Adlington, Callum Mills, Kornelia Fiedkiewicz and Elliot Clogg.

The Swimathon was held at the Water Meadows Swimming and Fitness Complex in Mansfield and HW Martin was one of two businesses who were the main sponsors for this event. Half of the money raised by each team of up to six went to their chosen cause — an organisation or charity — with the remaining 50% being shared by Mansfield Rotary’s Benevolent Fund and The Armchair Club Sports Foundation Trust. The Armchair Club is a group of local businessmen and women, who have been providing financial support for local sports people since 1982.

Well done to all that took part in this event. HW Martin Waste Ltd’s involvement with the Rotary Club is a continuation of support to local clubs and initiatives within the Derbyshire & Nottinghamshire area through the provision of funding and resources.
