H W Martin Announces New HWRC Contract for Durham County Council

08/05/2013

H W Martin Waste Ltd is pleased to announce an important new contract with Durham County Council. Starting on Saturday 1 June, the company will manage and operate the county’s household waste recycling centres (HWRCs) under a 5-year contract.

The arrangement with the council marks the latest in a series of moves to expand the company’s recycling and waste management services in the North East. The company operates recycling service contracts with South Tyneside and Gateshead councils and through its subsidiary Premier Waste Recycling Ltd works with businesses, colleges, hospitals and other private and public sector organisations across the region.

The HWRC contract with H W Martin Waste Ltd stipulates significant increases to the amount of waste that is recycled. This will contribute to reducing the impact on the local environment, improve the quality of service for Durham residents and reduce the cost to the council for maintaining the HWRC service.

Mark Faulconbridge, Operations Director at H W Martin Waste Ltd, commented on the contract award: “Operating in these tough times continues to be a challenge but in the North East we have invested heavily in the region over the past 3 years so that we can give the best service to our local authority and business customers. We are therefore very pleased that Durham County Council have awarded their prestigious HWRC contract to H W Martin Waste Ltd.”
