HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd has donated a shipping container for use as a brand-new storage facility for the Alfreton District Scouts to use.

The previous storage facility was in poor condition after being vandalized leaving the group without a secure space to store their equipment.

Alfreton District Scouts has over 200 members aged between 4 and 18 and covers Somercotes, Alfreton, Clay Cross, South Normanton, Tibshelf and Pinxton. It provides young people with a place to socialize and have fun whilst developing skills for life.

David Shaw, Director at HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd, said:

“We have donated a steel container which should be much more robust and sited it on the wonderful campsite facility a short distance from our depot in Blackwell, Derbyshire. We’re delighted to be able to help this group that empowers so many of our young people by providing a secure and safe space for the Scout groups to use going forward.”

Laura Lloyd is the District Commissioner for Alfreton District Scouts, she said:

“We use the land near to East Midlands Designer Outlet as a campsite and an activity base. We’re continually developing it by introducing new activities like grass sledging and axe throwing so that our young people can have adventures, fun and develop new skills that lead to greater physical health and mental wellbeing. The container is going to store all of our activity equipment such as the grass sledges, laser quest kit, junior crossbows, throwing angels and circus skills equipment, as well as tables, benches and event shelters so that everything is easily accessible to all our members. Having the new container means that more of our groups will be able to make use of the campsite as everything will be contained in one place. Thank you for your donation, it will make a great difference to us.”

The container was delivered to its new home by HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd’s sister company, HW Martin (Plant) Ltd.
