HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd has generously donated nearly £450 worth of materials to support a community project at Headon Hall in Thurrock. The donation, organized by Operations Manager Stuart Routh, including paving slabs, potting mix, flowers and herbs.
Headon Hall, a community centre in Stifford Clays, serves various groups, including an elderly group with dementia. Recognising the therapeutic benefits of gardening, the staff aimed to involve these individuals in gardening activities. However, the garden was initially unsuitable for their use.
The supply chain working on the Lower Thames Crossing project, a proposed new route that will connect Kent and Essex via a tunnel beneath the River Thames, collaborated to create a more inclusive and accessible garden space for the centre’s visitors. In early summer 2024, volunteers renovated the garden, constructing raised flower beds and laying paving slabs to ensure wheelchair accessibility. Volunteers from the Lower Thames Crossing project team completed the renovation in June with a final lick of paint and planting flowers and herbs in the new beds.
In a LinkedIn post about the project, Lauren Edmunds, Social Impact Advisor for the Lower Thames Crossing, remarked: “The garden has been totally transformed… and the team at Headon Hall are totally over the moon with the end result. Special thanks to HW Martin (Traffic Management) Ltd for all of your generous donations and support for this project.”
